Rozet Cultural Centre & Bookstore
Designed by Neutelings Riedijk Architecten and opened on 10 December 2013 by Princess Beatrix, Rozet integrates a public library, regional heritage centre, art centre, and community college under one roof. The building won the Best BNA Building of the Year award in 2014. The bookshop is one of the best-stocked in the region. Entry to the building and library is free; exhibition spaces and events may charge separately.
The facade is laid out in a Penrose pattern — a non-repeating geometric tiling of rhombuses — symbolising the idea of endlessly expanding knowledge. Inside, a glazed circulation corridor 200 metres long runs through the building on all floors, connecting through to the railway station and the Kerkplein (Church Square). It functions as an indoor public street linking the various institutions within. The building also has a green roof, solar panels, and a natural ventilation system.
