Netherlands Open Air Museum
Established on 24 April 1912 and opened to the public on 13 July 1918 with just six relocated buildings, the museum now spans 44 hectares on the former Waterberg estate at the edge of Arnhem. It houses over 100 authentic structures spanning five centuries: farmhouses, windmills, a working forge, a village, and workshops relocated from across the country. Period-costumed actors and demonstrators bring the exhibits to life throughout the day. With more than 550,000 visitors annually it consistently ranks among the most visited museums in the Netherlands. Allow at least a half-day.
Nationaal Park Veluwezoom
Veluwezoom was formally established on 25 January 1930, making it the oldest national park in the Netherlands. Its 5,000 hectares of landscape were shaped by the Saalian glaciation and are managed today by Vereniging Natuurmonumenten, the country's largest nature conservation organisation. The Posbank viewpoint sits at around 90 metres elevation, with views extending up to 20 km on a clear day. Wildlife is abundant: wild boar, red deer, and the rare black woodpecker all live here. Take bus 51 from Arnhem Centraal.
Rozet Cultural Centre & Bookstore
Designed by Neutelings Riedijk Architecten and opened on 10 December 2013 by Princess Beatrix, Rozet integrates a public library, regional heritage centre, art centre, and community college under one roof. The building won the Best BNA Building of the Year award in 2014. The bookshop is one of the best-stocked in the region. Entry to the building and library is free; exhibition spaces and events may charge separately.
Arnhem Food Market
Around 200 stalls at the Markt square every Friday from 07:30 — fresh produce, cheese, fish, flowers, and street food at one of the region's best markets.
John Frost Bridge
The bridge that became the symbol of the Battle of Arnhem — held by British paratroopers from 17 to 21 September 1944 against overwhelming German forces.
LOCALS & BLOU
Two concepts at Hotel Haarhuis: LOCALS brasserie on the ground floor, BLOU rooftop bar with views over the station square — both open to non-guests.
Arnhem City Centre
Arnhem's walkable city centre, anchored by the Korenmarkt — a grain-market square operating since 1563 and the city's main social hub.
Eusebius Church
Arnhem's Gothic landmark, begun in 1450 and rising 97 metres — its tower collapsed in WWII and was painstakingly restored, reopening in 1964.
Park Sonsbeek
Arnhem's best-loved park — 67 hectares of wooded hills purchased by the city in 1889 — with a 750-year-old watermill still grinding flour on the Jansbeek stream.
