Nationaal Park Veluwezoom
Veluwezoom was formally established on 25 January 1930, making it the oldest national park in the Netherlands. Its 5,000 hectares of landscape were shaped by the Saalian glaciation and are managed today by Vereniging Natuurmonumenten, the country's largest nature conservation organisation. The Posbank viewpoint sits at around 90 metres elevation, with views extending up to 20 km on a clear day. Wildlife is abundant: wild boar, red deer, and the rare black woodpecker all live here. Take bus 51 from Arnhem Centraal.
The most popular walking route is a 5 km loop from the Posbank through the heathlands. The Rozendaalse Zand, a named sand-drift area within the park, creates an open desert-like landscape among the surrounding forest. A 46 km cycling loop — the Rondje Posbank — connects the main viewpoints across the Rheden municipality. A mountain bike route of 48 km is also marked (requires a vignette).
Paviljoen de Posbank, a café and tearoom, sits at the viewpoint itself and is open daily. Camping is available within the park. The park is around 20 minutes by car from Arnhem city centre.
